Swing Check Valve

Swing check valves are unidirectional valves designed to prevent reverse fluid flow automatically. A hinged disc swings open with forward pressure and closes under backflow, protecting pumps and process equipment.

Our rugged swing check valves are engineered to deliver reliable, automatic backflow prevention, protecting your critical piping systems from costly damage and reverse flow incidents. Featuring a hinged disc (the “swing”) that opens with forward flow and closes securely under reverse flow, these valves operate silently and efficiently.

The robust design ensures minimal pressure drop in the open position and a tight, leak-proof seal when closed. Constructed from high-grade materials to withstand demanding pressures, temperatures, and corrosive media, our swing check valves are built for long service life and maintenance-free operation in the most challenging industrial environments.

Ideal for a wide range of applications, our swing check valves are commonly installed in water and wastewater systems, chemical processing, oil and gas pipelines, power generation, and HVAC systems.

Component Technical Details Component Technical Details
Disc For valves with NPS < 2″, a high-performance Solid Disc (clapper) is used for rapid response.
Sizes 2″ and above employ Forged or Precision Cast Discs with a contoured profile to ensure
minimal flow resistance and a secure, self-aligning seal against the seat during backflow.
Stem (Hinge Pin) One-piece stainless steel, non-rotating hinge pin. Precision-ground and smooth-machined
to minimize friction, allowing free disc movement at low cracking pressures while
maintaining a tight seal to prevent fugitive emissions at the hinge entry.
Body & Cover Connection Robust Bolted Cover (Bonnet) design for Class 150 to 600 enables easy in-line maintenance.
For Class 900 and above, a Pressure Seal Cover design ensures maximum joint integrity
under extreme pressure and stress conditions.
Seat Faces Seat faces are lapped to a mirror finish for superior sealing and backflow prevention.
Integral seating is provided for standard applications, while renewable threaded or
welded seats hard-faced with Stellite are available for high-wear, high-temperature,
or corrosive services.
Back Seat & Hinge Design Sturdy internal hinge arrangement. Carbon steel valves feature a removable hinge pin
and bush for long-term serviceability.
Gasket Class 150 to 600 valves use Stainless Steel + Flexible Graphite spiral wound gaskets
for leak-proof sealing. Optional RTJ gaskets are available for Class 600.
Class 900 and above utilize pressure-activated seals for high-velocity piping systems.
